Makeup for Sensitive Skin

Have you ever wondered how some people are able to maintain smooth, flawless, baby-soft skin even as they age? There are possible reasons why this may be the case. Of course, there’s makeup, and we all know that many models and celebrities highly depend on it to enhance their faces. Nevertheless, there are some people who were born with really great genes. Many fair-skinned beauties don’t need artificial blushers to make their cheeks rosy. A mere change in the temperature or their temperament is enough to make them blush. Others are born with plump lips that are all too pink.

These fortunate ones can get away with a no-makeup look and still turn heads. But what about those who are not as fortunate? There are those who have hypersensitive skin that leaves them with little choice as far as makeup and other facial products are concerned. Some products cause or aggravate skin disorders for people with too oily or too dry skin. This makes choosing makeup very difficult.

However, if you think long and hard about it, manufacturers of makeup and skincare products do not fall short in informing consumers regarding their products. That’s the reason why there are labels on these products. Consumers are supposed to read whatever’s written on the labels and understand these carefully.

When choosing beauty products, it’s best to keep in mind that these products are supposed to “dress” your skin for the entirety of the day; thus, these products need to respect the fragility of your skin. If you have sensitive skin, the best choices are hypoallergenic, non-comedogenic (which means the product won’t clog your pores), and fragrance-free products.

Choose natural cosmetics and beauty and skincare lines made with organic product ingredients and those that are dermatologically tested. As much as possible, opt for products with the words “Nickel Tested” printed on the label. Nickel is a very potent allergen, and the last thing you want is for your skin to react to it. In addition, remember that one of the main ideas when buying beauty and skincare products, aside from beautifying your face, is to avoid as much skin reactions as possible.

Many cosmetics, beauty, and skincare products these days are mineral-based. This means the products hardly have any toxic ingredients, allergens, and irritants that could aggravate your skin’s condition. Moreover, when shopping for cosmetics, try to avoid liquid-based products. The water content in these products would only make your skin vulnerable to infection. Hence, choose powder-based makeup or silicone-based foundation if you want to prevent your skin from developing acne.

You probably feel that you have lost all hope as far as makeup goes because of your sensitive skin. Here’s a newsflash: you can restore your faith in makeup. How is that possible? Well, you just need to make wise choices. Opt for products enriched with moisturizing and soothing agents that will care for your skin throughout the day.

A good product to try is Tarte Cosmetics. It’s a line of makeup especially formulated for sensitive skin. Their products are made of organic and natural ingredients that pretty much fall in the category mentioned above. One example is their Amazonian clay 12-hour blush.

Now is a great time to shop for Tarte Cosmetics, as they have various online promotions coinciding with the Black Friday and Cyber Monday shopping holidays.

  2. I have always admired this product but we don’t have it here

  3. It sucks that these products are sometimes quite expensive! My sister has sensitive skin so she has to be extra careful!

  4. Chantelle Walker says:

I have the most sensitive skin! No truly, my skin likes for about a year, maybe two, but then BAM! hates it and I get hives, and need to find something new. So this is great :)

  5. I gave up using most make up years ago due to sensitive skin. The only foundation I was able to use was ‘age defying’ which was funny because I was only 23. otherwise I’d break out in acne or rash. I just use mascara and lip gloss now. If I had found this years ago, maybe I’ll try it.

  6. I love Tarte, particularly the cheek stains – so long-lasting and always gentle. Great recommendation!

  7. Michelle Spayde says:

I absolutely adore Tarte! They make such wonderful products, and because they’re cruelty free, they’re definitely one of my go to companies for cosmetics.

Thanks for the tips! My skin gets so flaky sometimes!
