Walking is well-loved for its numerous health benefits. When you walk, your blood pressure is lowered and the levels of good cholesterol are raised, thus your body becomes stronger and you experience a general sense of well-being. Walking is a suggested exercise for diabetics. Walking for fitness doesn’t require you to push and exert a lot of effort for you to reap all its health benefits. Regular brisk walking is said to help lessen the risk of heart disease just like other vigorous cardio exercises do.

However, despite being a no-strain exercise, you should still take caution when preparing to do walking for fitness. It is advisable for you to wear shoes with proper arch so that you will prevent any injuries. Warm up by walking slowly for around five minutes and increase your pace gradually.

After warming up, make sure you do some stretching before you proceed to your actual walk. Stretch your calf muscles as well as your hamstrings so that there will be less strain on your muscles. Cool down after walking by repeating your stretches and walking more slowly to ease down your heartbeat and relax your muscles.

Walking is a great physical activity that you can do with the whole family. You can encourage the elderly to try walking around the park or near the sea to improve their well-being. Kids will also enjoy walking and jogging with their parents. It’s never too early or too late to start an engaging and easy-breezy fitness routine.
